For architects, surveyors and property professionals

Structural engineering you can bring into your own projects and instructions, with a clear brief, a fixed fee for each job and documents your team can use.

Engineering-only appointments

Architects and designers appoint us for the structural engineering on their projects: calculations and drawings for extensions, lofts and alterations, basements and underpinning, conversions and new buildings up to 15 metres. You remain the lead consultant. We work to your drawings and programme, and coordinate with your client and contractor in the way you prefer.

Green Code Engineering is part of Green Code Holdings, which also includes an architecture practice. When you appoint us for engineering, the appointment is for engineering only.

Who we work with

  • Architects and designers who need a structural engineer they can rely on across several projects.
  • Building surveyors and RICS surveyors whose survey has raised a structural question that needs an engineer’s report, such as an SSI or GSI.
  • Estate agents, conveyancers and buyers’ advisers working to an exchange date.
  • Managing agents and landlords with blocks to review, balconies and walkways to check or repairs to specify.
  • Developers and contractors who need design, temporary works or site inspections.

How an instruction works

  1. Send the briefUse the enquiry form or email: the address, what you need, your deadline, and any drawings, photos or survey extracts.
  2. Fixed fee in writingWe confirm the scope, the fee and the delivery date for that instruction before any work starts.
  3. Inspection or designInspection reports are signed off by a chartered engineer (CEng MICE). Calculations and drawings go through three-step quality control.
  4. Queries and revisionsIf Building Control, the builder or your client raises a query, we answer it and issue revisions through the same checks.
  5. Next stageAnything beyond the agreed scope, such as remedial design after a report, is quoted separately so you and your client decide at each step.

Timescales

  • Enquiries: a reply within 2 working hours.
  • Inspections: usually within 48 hours of instruction, subject to access.
  • Reports: issued within 5 working days of the visit.
  • Drawings and calculations: standard packages within 3 to 5 working days of receiving your drawings and the information we need.
  • Faster service: available for an extra fee when your programme needs it, agreed in writing with the quote.

Regular instructions

If you expect to send us work regularly, tell us when you first get in touch. We will agree how you want briefs sent, who your contact is and how documents are issued, so each new instruction starts without repeating the basics.
